Mar 08, 2005·Aluminum vs cast iron bandsaw wheels. Does this august group have any opinions regarding the merits of aluminum vs steel vs cast iron for bandsaws in the 16″ to 18″ range? I would think that cast iron wheels, if balanced properly, would tend to smooth out blade travel and lessen vibration but it’s only a supposition.
